Upgrade your pine retaining wall to look like hardwood

When you’re trying to make your backyard look great sometimes something simple as applying a timber stain to treated timber can make all the difference. A treated pine retaining wall can be upgraded to look like hardwood simply by applying a good quality timber stain like Sikkens premium timber stains.

The benefit of applying Sikkens woodcare to a treated pine retaining wall is that it has been developed to protect timber. There is a perception that treated timber doesn’t need protection but while the preservative treatment will protect against insect attacks and decay it is still prone to the effects of weathering.

The owners of this backyard decided they wanted their treated pine retaining wall to be darker in colour so they selected Sikkens Cetol HLSe in a Dark Oak.

The process was pretty simple, the first step was a wash with soapy water to make sure any dirt was removed. Then the timber was left to dry thoroughly for 24 hours. Once dry 3 coats of Sikken Cetol HLSe was applied with 24 hours of drying time between each coat.

The results are self explanatory, the colour makes such a different to the look of the timber.
